The other day a child came into the office. He had a huge smile on his face, eyes lit up like an anime character. He was playing with him mom, his dad, his uncle. He was on top of the world, epitomizing the old cliche of blissful ignorance.
I couldn't help but look into his eyes. For a second, he sensed my concern. The smile vanished, replaced with a perplexed expression. I wish I could have smiled, somehow reassured him, but all I could think and reflect about was pain. Intense, savage pain. His pain. Poor Kid. No idea what's coming.
An hour and a half pass. Screaming, shaking, crying. You name it. The uncle passes out. Attention switches to him for a bit. We get him to come to. He leaves the office. A little fresh air do him good. Back to the kid, and the screaming, shaking, crying. The parents encourage the child to pray... A screaming, desperate, honest prayer, the likes of which I'd never heard before.
Finally, it's all over. The child manages a neutral expression. One hand clutches a toy the uncle went out to buy, while and the other is firmly attached to the mother's hand. It's all mercifully over, and not a second too soon.
This kid better not have cancer till he turns 60 or 70. preventative medicine and local anesthesia ftl.

wherever you are today, howevermuch pain you're in, just remember that someone out there has it worse... selflessness is the best cure for depression
1. Kara Starbuck Thrace: So if you watch Battlestar Galactica, you'd know she's the best shooter and pilot in the fleet. Also excellent at hand to hand combat. Mentally tough. Good knowledge of Space. 2. Jessica Alba from Dark Angel: genetically engineered, excellent hand to hand fighter... and her blood can heal you. and she's Jessica Alba 3. Rachel Taylor's Character in transformers: In today's day and age, you need a hacker, and she's the best one I've seen on TV... 4. Uma thurman's character in kill bill: should be self-explanatory... albeit I wonder if miho from sin city would beat her 1 on 1... 5. Carter from Stargate SG-1: it doesn't hurt to have a bio physicist who happens to also be a very capable fighter. definitely would be the most versatile member of the team.

The members of your team must be human - Which means none of the non-useless characters from Alien Vs. Predator. 3. The members of your team must not have super-powers - You can't pick Superman, as flying, heat-vision, and overall indestructibleness is super-human. Plus, he violates rule 2. (I'm gonna assume the force is a superpower.. otherwise darth vader is automatic 4. You must explain your reasoning for picking your team members - Why did you consider putting this person on your team?
